Build HOPE is the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA)’s 25-Year strategic plan to advance the preservation and expansion of affordable housing options and inclusive economic development for a wide array of households and partners.

Build HOPE marks the first step in a massive organizational reinvention for the agency. Utilizing in-depth outreach and engagement and calling upon the expertise of staff, residents, advocates, and community partners as well as local and national leaders, Build HOPE reflects the recognized best practices in developing, managing, and preserving affordable housing while providing enough flexibility to respond to future needs and opportunities as part of the plan’s ongoing implementation. City Fabrick worked with HACLA and the consultant developing the strategic plan, Estolano LeSar Advisors, to establish a visual identity and overarching framework for the project that is both a clear and engaging presentation of the two years of research, outreach, and development. The over 300-page document incorporates a consistent color, typography, and iconography system that helps distill the detailed and technical information clearly for experts and policy-makers, while still feeling approachable for the general public. HACLA used this visual identity when they updated their website shortly thereafter.
