The Santa Ana Micro-Farm will be an urban agricultural facility, small business incubator, and community space that leverages a fallow publicly-owned former industrial property to create a productive landscape and community gathering space.

The micro-farm is the initial development for THRIVE Santa Ana - the emerging community land trust, in collaboration with the City of Santa Ana who owns the vacant parcel. The concept was developed through extensive engagement with the surrounding community. City Fabrick has been working with THRIVE, their partner CRECE, the City of Santa Ana, and local residents to develop the program and design, and are supporting entitlement and financing efforts for the project. Construction of the micro-farm will be completed in the fall of 2024.

The micro-farm will be anchored by a series of repurposed shipping containers that will host small businesses, a classroom, storage and work spaces, and restrooms. They collectively frame the main community space which includes a shaded patio and small stage.

Landscape Architecture

The farm includes dozens of coordinate garden plots, greenhouse, and comprehensive production facility, while the community space includes a central gathering space, meeting room, and multiple spaces for local businesses. The farm anchors the eastern portion of the site while the production is tucked to the north and west edges to allow the community functions to activate the center.
